Best artificial Christmas trees for £200 and under

~ UPDATED PRICES FOR 2023 ~

The start of the festive season is almost upon us, and as an interior designer, I love the excuse to add some festive touches to my home over Christmas. Think cute white ceramic houses, winter berries, wreaths and lots of candles. I also can’t wait to decorate the tree, and this year it will most definitely be an artificial one.

Artificial Christmas trees have come a long way from the sparse green tinselled branches of the 80s. Many now have ultra realistic PVC branch tips, replicating real life Nordmann Firs and Blue Spruces. You can even recreate that lovely pine scent with fragrance sticks from ScentSicles (the White Winter Fir is my favourite and smells just like a real Christmas tree).

Investing in an artificial Christmas tree will also save you money in the long run, as stored correctly and looked after, an artificial tree will last you for years to come.

Here’s my selection of the best realistic artificial trees for under £200.

Balsam Hill Swiss Mountain Pine 6ft: £199

Balsam Hill Swiss Mountain Pine

Balsam Hill is the place to go for premium artificial Christmas trees. Whilst some of their faux trees retail for over £1000, there are a few for under £200, including this beautiful Swiss Mountain Pine tree with its slender silhouette and lifelike foliage.

B&Q 6ft Thetford Natural looking Pre-lit Artificial Christmas tree: £180

B&Q Thetford Christmas Tree

With a beautiful natural looking shape and incredibly realistic branches, this Thetford tree is well loved on social media. It’s also pre-lit, which means you can simply pop it up and get decorating. Make sure you grab one early, because this tree sells out every year.

John Lewis Norse Unlit Christmas Tree, 6ft: £200

John Lewis Norse Tree

This John Lewis tree has realistic looking pine branches, which are enhanced by the variegated green of the tips, creating a full and bushy shape. It’s also an eco conscious choice too: by purchasing a John Lewis artificial tree, you are also supporting them to plant 10,000 real trees at their Leckford Estate.

Charlies 7ft Grandis Fir Artificial Christmas Tree: £129.95

Charlies Grandis Fir

With over 2300 'Feel Real' branch tips, the 7ft Grandis Fir from Charlies is incredibly realistic and could easily pass for the real thing. It also comes with a 12 year guarantee and easy to assemble hinged branches.

Whitestores 6ft Calgary Fir Artificial Christmas Tree: £129.99

Whitestores Calgary Fir Tree

If the reviews for this 6ft Calgary Fir Tree from Whitestores are anything to go by, you can’t go wrong investing in it. It has a mixture of branches in different textures and tones, adding to the realism. Don’t forget to spend time fluffing up your artificial tree branches: Whitestores recommends taking 45 minutes to get those branches perfect.

Habitat 7ft Mixed Tip Natural Look Christmas Tree: £93.33

Habitat Mixed Tip Christmas Tree

This 7ft tree from Habitat is one of the most affordable artificial trees I’ve seen, leaving you with plenty of change from £200. With a mix of 3D and flat needles, it looks full and bushy, with a great shape too.

All prices are correct as of November 2023.
